Manfred Mölgg
The young ski star from St. Vigil in Enneberg is the figurehead of South Tyrols’s ski mountain no. 1.
Manfred Mölgg started skiing at the age of four. In 1997, under the care of his uncle, he was able to enter the local ski team. Since 2000 he has been part of the Italian national ski team: at first he was member of the C-squad, then, in 2002, changed to the B-squad and since 2003 he skis for the A-squad. He became Italian champion in slalom in 2003 and in the giant slalom in 2005.
Since January 2003 he has been taking part at races for the Ski World Cup. So far he has been on the podium four times. He achieved his best result in 2004 when he became second at the slalom in Schladming right after the Austrian ski star Benjamin Raich.
In 2005 he took part at the Ski World Championship in Bormio where he was on the 13th position at the giant slalom. His best result has been at the Ski World Cup in 2007 in Åre, where he won the silver medal in slalom. His younger sister Manueal Mölgg is also part of the Italian ski national team.
In 2008 Manfred Mölgg won the World Cup Race in the Slovenian ski resort Kranjska Gora for the first time in his successful career.
In March 2008 the ski champion won the treasured crystal ball in the Slalom World Cup in Bormio.
